Most of you have heard by now of our loss of "Mr. Mechanic," Frank Rush.
Frank was a long-time Charter member of both
the Short Wing Piper Club and the
Northwest / Columbia River Chapters. For several years he served as Chapter
President.
Any of you who attended chapter meetings or national
conventions have met Frank.
He was the quiet guy in the corner with the big smile, or the one standing by
the white
PA20 Pacer he called Squirrelly.
We first met Frank when he flew down to a chapter
meeting at the old Clark County
Airport in SW in the early 1980's, probably 1983 or 1984. Since that time,
we have flown to or attended conventions with Frank and his wife Theresa in
perhaps 15 states.
We shared many memorable flights: the Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Monument Valley
and the Rocky Mountains, flying to or from National Conventions.
The more friends you have to fly with, the more
enjoyable the trip. We have stored many
wonderful memories of Frank and the other "Short Wingers" that made
those trips with us.
They were truly enjoyable and memorable.
Frank spent one career on earth inspecting airliners
for Delta. He spent another with the SWPC,
working on and assisting others with their Short Wing Pipers. His next career
he will spend
inspecting the wings of angels.
We will miss you Frank.
